Get to know Mtsyri
Mtsyri is the title of a famous poem by Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov (1814-1841). There are two meanings to the word "mtsyri" when translated from Georgian. One is novitiate, probationer. The other is stranger, marginal.
The music of Lermontov's poetic language is hard to maintain in translation. Don Mager endeavored to do so with a fantastic result and published his translation in 2019.
